Alan obtained his dental degree from University of Sydney in 1997. After working as a general dentist in Sydney and then later in Singapore, he then decided to pursue his specialty training in the USA. Alan completed his periodontal training from Boston University and was involved in the research “Epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition in gingival overgrowth” as his thesis. During his residency, he had 2 publications from his Masters research and he was also the recipient of the prestigious Morris-Ruben scholarship in his academic year.
Alan’s passion in dentistry in the beginning sees him pursuing the art and science in Periodontology as this is not only an interesting area in managing both hard and soft tissues, but the recent advancement in this field has made it the leading science in dentistry. His specific interests not only restricted to controlling the inflammation of the periodontal tissues but also lies in tissue engineering, soft and hard tissues regeneration, periodontal plastic surgeries, gingival recessions and advanced implant site(s) preparation.
He is currently a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology and Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontology.
